Such is the dilemma with episodic video games that let you purchase the whole season beforehand.
It’s also worth pointing out that even if Ties That Bind is a good experience, that doesn’t necessarily mean the rest of the season will be the same. And once again, that may be the least of your worries. Not every character is inherently good or bad – everyone is doing their best to get by – so be prepared for plenty of instances where justifications are provided for murder. There’s subject matter here besides murder that could rattle a few feathers. Because it shares ties with the critically acclaimed comic book series, The Walking Dead: A New Frontier will be violent. You should also be prepared for discomfort. So even with the depth of choice, expect much ado about nothing when conversing with this colourful cast. Plenty of these conflicts will play out as conversations and they can go in plenty of different directions, even if no one’s dying in the next 10 seconds. Along with Javier, Clementine and AJ, you’ll come across groups of survivors, including a well-knit community of sorts, and a gang of “murderers” so to speak. Character interactions galoreĪny good adventure game relies on a strong cast of characters and such is the case with The Walking Dead: A New Frontier. Some may even determine whether a character lives or dies, leading to multiple endings as well. This isn’t to say it’s laid-back or mundane – many choices will be remembered by certain characters and influence events later on. You might have to move your cursor over something here and there but for the most part, this is a game built on making choices. The Walking Dead – and Telltale’s overall gaming formula for that matter – features a hefty amount of action but in the form of quick time sequences. That’s a whole lot of drama to manage and it’s an incredible deal for those who want to dip into the universe before committing. It’s all fairly standard but for the first time, A New Frontier’s first episode will comprise of two parts. Clementine returns and is seen caring for an orphan named AJ when she crosses paths with Javier. In the case of Ties That Bind, we have new character Javier whose father has passed away. And keep that hair short.Each new episode in a Telltale Games title lasts a few hours and ably sets up events for the rest of the season. In the gripping and emotional final season you define your relationships, fight the undead, and determine how Clementine’s story ends.
